Happy Birthday OpenStack. The cloud is about to get some real innovation. Can you change the source code of your cloud? If not, why do you enjoy being locked in?

I am at an offsite in Jackson Hole. What do we do? Yossi Vardi and John Maeda (head of RISD, famous design school) and I are showing each other fun stuff, like this lipdub that Grand Rapids did to promote the town. What's funny is neither is on Facebook. So, Yossi asked me "why would I be on Facebook?"

I answer "to show people stuff like this."

He then asks me "how many Israelis read you?" I say "I have no idea."

So, if you are Israeli and reading me, leave a comment about why Yossi should join Facebook.

I can't disagree. This startup, Numecent, has some pretty mind-blowing cloud-based technology to deliver apps to you without forcing you to download the entire app. Think of things like Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office, Autodesk's CAD software, etc.

I think the news is going to get worse for Microsoft. Xbox1 is the one product I'm watching. If it doesn't do well, then I'm not sure what Microsoft will do to stem the bad news as the Age of Context arrives over the next 18 months.

Google is about to announce stuff that really will take away Microsoft's position in mobile. I feel for my friends at Microsoft, but they are gonna get squeezed in a way that hasn't happened to Microsoft in its life.
