Robert Scoble and Jaron Lanier on wearable technology
Here's a version everyone can watch of the BBC debate I had with Jaron Lanier: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22770908 Google Glass and wearable computers.
Media training? If you get on with Jeremy Paxman (many PR people live in fear of him since he has an adversarial interview style) in a debate setting, here's some tips:
1. Get there early and try to have a fun conversation with him before getting on air. That's where Paxman feels you out. I let him try Glass and had a good laugh with him.
2. Make sure you take the other side's point of view (I know the downsides of technology).
3. Wait your turn. No one likes someone who talks over other people. On the other hand, you do need to be firm about getting in your points too. It's a tight balancing act.
4. Self deprecation works a LOT with Paxman. He respects that since he always gets people pitching him stuff and pushing a singular point of view.
Thanks Rory Cellan-Jones who had a separate film that led into this debate. Read his thoughts and watch that here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22759482

How an American Can Stream the BBC's Official Olympics Coverage and Overcome #NBCFail
If you're outside of the United Kingdom then getting a good live feed of the Olympics isn't easy. NBC is streaming some video, but it's ugly, slow, and requires a cable subscription. Worse, what they're showing on their over-the-air broadcast is tape delayed. In short, NBC is failing to deliver suitable coverage in a connected age.
Bummer, the BBC stuff is only watchable in the UK....
