It's interesting listening to the NTSB, who just concluded its first report (NTSB Chairman Deborah Hersman told a press conference a few minutes ago that they had already listened to the flight data recorders and presented this timeline:

1. Seven seconds before impact a crew member asked for an increase in speed.
2. Four seconds before impact the plane told the crew they were in danger of stalling (the NTSB reported that the plane was "significantly slower than the 137 knot target speed for landing at SFO).
3. 1.5 seconds before impact a crew member asked for a "go around." That's language for aborting the landing and wanting to "go around" for another landing attempt.

The NTSB Chairman Deborah Hersman was very careful about not laying blame yet. She said they will be looking at all factors in what caused the crash before laying blame and she implored the press to just report the facts as she presented them.

KTVU Channel 2 has been doing the best job of covering the plane crash today. Nice to hear, from this post on KTVU, that most people are accounted for and are safe. Sad for the 49 people who are in the hospital tonight and the two dead. Tragic but could have been a LOT worse.

What's weird is I'm now friends with Janis Krums who made the photo of the plane crash in the Hudson and he says he thinks this is the first one photoed and videoed by a passenger.

Yes, it is weirding me out to be Facebook friends with both Janis and David Eun (who was on today's plane). I also met Capt Chesley Sullenberger who landed that plane after a speech he gave at Davos. Hopefully this is the closest I come to tragedy in my life.

The world keeps getting smaller.
