Funny story about Doug Engelbart.
Funny story about Doug Engelbart.
When we got to his house in 2006 we tried to get onto the Internet. In his house in Atherton there was absolutely no way to get on. Cell service didn't work back then. He didn't have reliable Internet. I thought it was ironic since he was in the room when the first node of the Internet, which was at SRI International, was turned on. Even better he said he enjoyed not being online so much.
Anyway, on this American Independence day I'm thinking a lot about what freedom is and number one on that list is the Internet and people like Doug. Of course that also means that the NSA is listening in which I've seen a lot of people noting in their "Happy Fourth of July" messages. That's not freedom. I sure wish they would answer my email, though. 122 to go in my inbox. Sigh.
Hope you all are having a great day. Oh, and to the NSA: I think I'll go blow something up. Put THAT in your metadata system and smoke it!
